Capture the Traditional Beauty
of the Netherlands in 3 Days

Learn to Shoot Manual, Edit With Confidence, and Capture the Netherlands in Tulips, Windmills and Golden Hour Canals.

Discover the Netherlands with a Photography Experience Like No Other

Picture yourself photographing tulip fields at sunrise, classic windmills in soft spring light, and glowing canal scenes as the day settles into golden hour.

This Netherlands photography holiday is being designed as a relaxed, small group workshop for keen beginners and returning photographers who want a confident, enjoyable way to shoot a truly Dutch story.

  • Daily guided shoots across Leiden, Keukenhof Kasteel and the bulb region, Volendam, and the Zaanse Schans windmills at sunset.

  • Coaching on the go to build confidence in composition, light, and camera control in real locations.

  • A calm, supportive pace with gentle walks, plenty of breaks, and simple transport between locations.

  • Small group attention with real one to one guidance.

  • Bottom line: You will return with a strong set of Dutch spring images, and the confidence to find great shots anywhere you travel next.

This Is Not Just Another Photography Trip

We are not building this around crowded city hotspots. The focus is on the traditions and everyday beauty of the Northern Netherlands, photographed in the most flattering spring light. Think canals and street life, bold colour in the bulb fields, and a timeless windmill landscape at golden hour.

The aim is simple: photographs that feel unmistakably Dutch, not generic travel shots you could have taken anywhere.

"Thank you Stephen, and everyone else today, it was a great day, with quite some learning 📖, I’ve been on the computer editing since I’ve been home, thoroughly enjoyed the walk today."

Your Photography Journey – Day by Day

(*itinerary are subject to slight change depending on weather/availability.)

Arrival Day

Settle into the Golden Tulip Leiden Centre and meet the group for welcome evening drinks. A relaxed, friendly start, with time to get comfortable before the first shoot day.

Leiden: Canals, Culture, and Evening Atmosphere

We begin in Leiden, a character rich Dutch city filled with canals, bridges, bicycles, and beautiful streets. You will practise composition and storytelling by photographing daily life, architecture, reflections, and small details. If the light is right, we will also add a short evening session around sunset for moody canal scenes and an introduction to simple night photography.

Focus: composition confidence, observation, storytelling, and optional low light camera control.

Leiden

The Kasteel & Tulip Fields: Colour, Pattern, and Spring Detail

This is your classic tulip day, done properly. We visit the Keukenhof Kasteel area and then head out to photograph tulip fields nearby, focusing on bold colour, leading lines, patterns, and clean compositions. At the end of the day, we may include a relaxed editing session to help you select and finish your strongest images.

Focus: colour and vibrance, tidy backgrounds, purposeful composition, and optional editing to polish your best work.

Kasteel Keukenhof

Volendam & Zaanse Schans: Windmills and Sunset

We head to Volendam for traditional Dutch architecture, harbour side character, and candid cultural details. Then we travel on to the Zaanse Schans windmill area, timed for a beautiful sunset shoot. This is where everything comes together: light, atmosphere, composition, and storytelling, with coaching to help you nail the shot when it matters.

Focus: iconic Dutch heritage, subject choice, and golden hour photography with calm, confident technique.

Meet Your Tutor and Local Guide

"Thanks Stephen, I appreciate your help (on the Mam Tor photo walk). I think I need to master the lenses I have first. Yesterday made me realise how little I know but it was an excellent starting point for developing new skills. I really enjoyed the session - I've got my photography mojo back so thank you both."

Photograph the Netherlands with Stephen

Stephen Walton

Your Photography Coach

Stephen is an award-winning portrait, street & landscape photographer with 20 years of experience teaching photography across the world and featured by Adobe & Skylum.

He specialises in outdoor photography and post-processing — giving you the skills to transform your RAW shots into gallery-worthy images.

He loves seeing that ‘lightbulb moment’ when a learner nails their first long exposure or edit — it’s why he teaches.

Christina Noordberger

Local Travel Guide & Model

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Christina lives on the cusp of the tulip fields with her partner and four wonderfully quirky cats.

Her love for photography began with simple curiosity and soon grew into a powerful creative outlet. Christina’s always comfortable in front of the camera as well as behind it and will happily be your model on this workshop.

She looks forward to meeting you — with a camera, a smile, and possibly a very typical Dutch stroopwafel.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It…

See what past guests achieved with iPhotography — and why they call our workshops a turning point in their photography journey.

Hats off to Stephen and Rebecca for working so hard on showing us how to edit our photographs and then apologising to us for keeping us so long!!! It was a massively helpful session and greatly appreciated, thank you both.

Leiden is well connected by main roads, but city centre driving can be slower at busy times, so arriving earlier in the day is usually less stressful.

We will assume a small amount of camera knowledge and basic photography skills.

It doesn’t matter what grade of camera you have; all you need is at least a basic DSLR or Mirrorless camera and a passion for photography.

We’ll show you how to make the most of your kit to capture stunning images.

We recommend that you bring all your general camera gear, a tripod, and any lens filters you have. If you want to purchase lens filters beforehand, we’d recommend a polariser, neutral density and gradual neutral density filter that fits your most used lens.

Ensure you’ve got a few batteries (at least 3 – and the charger) and lots of memory cards!

A full packing list will be sent to guests a few weeks before meetinng.

Yes, there’s no other way – unless you count AI!

Every day, you’ll have a different focus, designed to gradually improve your camera understanding and become a fully rounded, confident photographer.

We’ll be outdoors hunting down the best shots in and across northern Netherlands, shooting cityscapes, portraits, architecture and street photography.

A photo walk is a great way to enjoy a casual stroll with your camera, picking up a few quick tips as you go — but an iPhotography Workshop tour is something altogether different.

It’s a fully immersive, expertly led experience designed to help you grow as a photographer in real time, with hands-on guidance, in-depth teaching, and creative support every step of the way.

While our online courses offer a brilliant foundation, nothing compares to learning in-person, on-location, with professionals by your side.

You’ll discover how to respond to light, movement and composition in the moment — not just follow instructions, but develop real photographic instinct.

You’ll receive direct coaching, personalised feedback, and practical demonstrations tailored to your needs, not just general tips.

This is where the real transformation happens. You’ll leave not only with a memory card full of images you’re proud of, but with sharper skills, deeper confidence, and a whole new way of seeing the world through your lens.

And of course, you’ll be part of a supportive group of like-minded photography enthusiasts — learning, laughing, and creating together.

To keep the group close-knit and maintain the supportive, community feel that’s at the heart of the F/65 Group experience, all guests must stay at the designated hotel as part of the workshop package.

Having everyone in the same location helps build friendships, ensures smooth logistics each day, and creates a relaxed, social atmosphere that’s hard to replicate when people are scattered across the city.

From shared breakfasts to evening chats, it’s all part of what makes the workshop so special.

We strongly recommend that you have a good travel and medical insurance policy in place to cover you in the event you must cancel your trip and any emergency medical services you might need while travelling in a foreign country.

V-Learn Ltd t/a iPhotography cannot be held responsible for any accident/loss or injury incurred during the course of the trip.

See the full terms and conditions of booking here.

The F/65 Group Workshop is designed as a complete multi-day experience, where each day builds on the last to help you grow in skill, confidence and creativity.

To get the full benefit — and to stay in sync with the group — all guests attend the entire workshop.

It’s about more than just taking photos; it’s the connections, the progress, and the journey we take together that make this experience truly memorable.
