What You'll Learn

Learning photography can feel like learning a new language—but it doesn’t have to. This course strips away the confusion and replaces it with step-by-step lessons, easy-to-follow videos, and hands-on projects that help you understand how to use your camera with purpose.

Whether you’re starting with a DSLR, mirrorless or compact camera, you’ll finally understand what all those buttons, dials and terms like aperture and ISO actually mean—and how they work together to create beautiful, sharp photos.

Master Your Camera, One Step at a Time

We start with the basics: how to hold your camera properly, navigate the menus, and use focus settings the right way. You’ll never feel lost or “technical” again.

You’ll also learn what all those intimidating letters and modes (A, S, M, P) mean, and when to use them.

Understand the Exposure Triangle (Without the Jargon)

Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO won’t be a mystery anymore. You’ll know exactly how they affect light, blur, sharpness and mood.

We’ll show you how to control depth of field, freeze or blur movement, and shoot confidently in bright or low light.

Composition Techniques That Instantly Improve Your Photos

Learn the rules of great composition (like Rule of Thirds, symmetry, leading lines and framing) and how to break them with purpose. This section gives you the tools to make every shot look more intentional and artistic—even if you’re photographing everyday things.

Light, Colour & White Balance Made Easy

We’ll guide you through natural light, artificial light, golden hour, harsh midday shadows—and how to adjust your white balance so your colours look natural, not strange or washed out.

Practice Projects to Build Your Skills Fast

Every major topic includes short creative exercises designed to help you apply your new knowledge immediately. You’ll build a strong foundation by doing, not just watching.

By the end of this course, you’ll finally feel in control of your camera—and you’ll have the confidence to step into any photography situation knowing exactly what to do next.

Thank you so much for your support in helping me not only learn my camera as I start this new venture (I am really new at this). Without this encouragement and support, I don't think I would have seen my photo here. I aspire to take such beautiful photos as so many of you.

I joined iPhotography around 8 years ago. From that time I think I am very fortun (seems to be a typo, probably meant "fortunate”) to be a member of iPhotography. I learned so many things from that time, which helped me to become a better photographer and get many international awards.

I have started the Landscape course and surprised what good value for money it is and how much I learn in each module, plenty of examples and not too lengthy for busy people. Love the encouragement feedback from iPhotography community members and sharing images. Makes courses that are on-line feel face-face. Competitions keep me encouraged to practice more.

I’ve done loads of landscape photos for people before... done postcards and photos etc so didn’t expect to panic as much as I just did when someone asked me to photograph their dog 😂 Good job I’ve done that section of the portrait course... it was weird because all the prep stuff just came out of my mouth like second nature... we need to set up a call and chat about location, the kind of shots you want any props you want to use, time of day and all that...! I’ll likely realise I’ve missed something at some point but thank you iPhotography because I’d never have rattled all that off as easy before I did the course... if at all!!

Really wanted to catch the black and white webinar live today but didn’t make it home in time. I just watched it and there's some great info. I'm always confused on what makes a good blackand white shot. This really helped, thanks!
